Innovation is a hallmark of Singapore’s tech industry. There is a growing demand for tech talent as the city-state continues to attract investments into technology. In 2019, there were 87 new emerging tech startups, but this number decreased to 68 in 2020 and 36 in 2021. A new market can be created or disrupted using the technology developed through Startup SG Tech grant. Companies will be able to gain funds for both Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Proof-of-Viability (POV) projects through this grant. It is possible to receive funding of up to S$250,000 for POC projects, which are designed to test a new technology’s technical and scientific viability. It is possible to receive funding up to $500,000 for POV projects that test commercial viability of lab-proven technologies.
